Fattah and Mohamed from AZA music band have just received a grant from the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz (California) to participate at the first Amazigh Cultural Festival in Santa Cruz. The Festival will be held on July 23 at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz.
The Festival's program will include music and dance workshops, a slide show about Imazighen and a lecture about their culture and history. Authentic Moroccan tea and pastries will be served. The festival will close with a two hour concert by Aza.
AZA was created in Santa Cruz (California) by Fattah Abboo and Mohamed Aoualou, Moroccans by origin and the Americans Jason Paquin (banjo, guitar), Joel Ford (clarinet, saxophones), Andy Zenczak (electric bass) and Alex Work (percussions). The band produces a unique musical combination of traditional Amazigh music with modern music styles.
