While Morocco continues its efforts to set up its national plan for the development of renewable energies, a woman, Mrs. Amal Haddouch, had just been appointed to be the next general director of the Moroccan Center for the Development of Renewable Energies - CDER (Centre de Dיveloppement des Energies Renouvelables).

Amal Haddouch has served as a civil servant at the Moroccan Ministry of Energy and Mines since 1987 and has already filled up several posts in the ministry’s department of renewable energies.

Aujourd’hui newspaper reported on Sunday that the main challenge facing the new director of CDER is to implement the two bills, signed with Morocco’s European partners, which are aimed at fighting against the greenhouse effects.

As part of the effort to comply with those two bills, Morocco adopted in July 2004 a national plan to reduce its gas emissions and to develop alternative energies (mainly solar), with an investment of MD10 billion.
