A suicide bomber blew himself up Thursday morning at the entrance of the new train station in the city of Kfar Sava, some 20 km north of Tel Aviv. One Israeli was killed and at least 16 other people were wounded.

An initial investigation indicated that the 18-year-old bomber, Khaled Khatib, who was killed in the blast, was from the Balata refugee camp on the outskirts of Nablus. Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade claimed responsibility for the bombing.

However, the official spokesman for Al Aqsa denied the group was involved in the bombing and said the attack was apparently carried out by a local breakaway faction of Al Aqsa.

A man who called to AP said the bombing was carried out jointly with the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. He said the group would continue carrying out attacks on Israelis until Israel has withdrawn from the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

"The Kfar Sava attack is another vivid example of the cruelty of Palestinian terrorism and its readiness to strike at innocent Israelis at any and every opportunity," said David Baker, an official in the Israeli Prime Minister's Office. (Albawaba.com)
