Two Marines were killed and three others injured when they came under fire in Fallujah, the U.S. military said Friday.
According to The AP, the American soldiers were ambushed Thursday by gunmen from inside a house as they entered it. Marines responded with gunfire, killing armed men hiding inside, the report added.
According to an American officer in the city, some 50 percent of the houses in Fallujah have already been "cleared." He vowed that the city will be safe in time for next January's nationwide elections, adding that "We want every Fallujan to vote from their house."
