As part of its continuous effort to provide telecom carriers with the latest in Multidimensional Ethernet technology that helps them to optimize service delivery, Extreme Networks®, Inc. the leader in open converged networks, will be launching its newest carrier switch, the BlackDiamond® 12804R at GITEX 2006.
Service providers offering triple play services are seeing increased revenue and customer retention. These services also place new demands on the network such as carrier class availability, Quality of Service (QoS), resiliency and scalability. Extreme Networks' carrier-class Ethernet Infrastructure meets these demands with high performance switching solutions that support both residential triple play services and Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) certified business services on a common platform to maximize revenue opportunities.
With the BlackDiamond 12804R, multi-dimensional Ethernet replaces best-effort Ethernet by delivering key advancements in carrier Ethernet technologies.
Extreme Networks BlackDiamond 12804R carrier switch has been designed to provide the ultimate solution for any incumbent operators migrating to Ethernet based networks and new licensed operators looking to implement Ethernet technology with ease.
BlackDiamond 12804R goes beyond the delivery of triple play of television, voice and high-speed Internet access to each home. Service providers can experience increased revenue opportunities due to new service capabilities such as high definition television, interactive games, video on demand, network-hosted digital video recording and guaranteed rate Internet access to the subscriber.
"Service providers are striving to find simple architecture to scale their networks while delivering the Quality of Service “QoS” necessary to support all customer’s digital/media needs at present and in the future without the need for any additional investments," said Chris Moore, Regional Director Extreme Networks Middle East & Africa. "With the BlackDiamond 12804R being launched here in the region, Extreme Networks is taking Carrier Ethernet to the next level with enhancements that allow service providers to address the individual needs of subscribers while benefiting from simple and cost-effective Ethernet technology."

Extreme Networks is exhibiting at Gitex 2006 this year at the GulfComms hall, stand Z-M30 which is double the size of last year’s stand. This move from GITEX to GulfComms halls illustrates the growing importance in the Telcos industry in the MENA region which is expected to grow by an average of 13% from the present US$ 46 billion - forecasted this year by Middle East - Market Statistics and Forecasts, Hot Telecom - to US$ 70 billion by 2010. The launch of the Carrier Ethernet Solution BlackDiamond® 12804R positions Extreme as the clear leader in providing Metro Ethernet aggregation solutions for advanced Triple Play services (These combine Voice, Data, and Video Service).
“Extreme has experienced great results in Gitex over the last three years. It has proven to be an effective platform from which to launch new products and solutions, meet existing customers to demonstrate new solutions and meet potential new customers who are looking for the most innovative technologies. Our key objectives at Gitex 2006 are to find new channel partners for Dubai, launch BlackDiamond 12804R to service providers in the region and demonstrate our ability to provide Insight and Control into Enterprise Networks,” add More.

Extreme Networks has over 100 Carrier customers and have built some of the largest Carrier Ethernet Networks with 100,000's of ports.
