Two undercover Israeli border policemen were wounded Thursday in an explosion in the Israeli area of Baka Al Sharkieh, near the West Bank city of Tulkarem, said reports.

One of the guards suffered moderate wounds and the second sustained light injuries, according to Israel Radio.

The Israeli reports claimed that the incident occurred in response to information stated that “two armed Palestinians with explosives, who are planning to carry out suicide missions inside Israel, are hiding in that area.”

According to the Tel Aviv-based Haaretz newspaper, the security forces reinstated the high level of alert adopted Wednesday after receiving intelligence warnings of a possible terror attack. The alert was temporarily dropped after reports were received that the suspected terrorists had fled the area.

On Thursday security forces beefed up their presence in towns along the Green Line Border, particularly Hadera, Afula and Nahal Iron.

The Green Line marks the pre-1967, UN-delineated border of Israel, as opposed to the present boundaries encompassing Palestinian land conquered and settled after that date – Albawaba.com
