Barbie has been a fashion symbol for young girls ever since the revolutionary doll character appeared on toyshop shelves in the 1950s, and Barbie dolls of yesteryear have even become valuable collectors’ items. Now Benetton is honouring this miniature style icon with its own Barbie-themed fashion collection ‘Barbie loves Benetton’.
Appealing to girls of all ages, the ‘Barbie loves Benetton’ collection features contemporary styles from international fashion capitals London, Paris, New York, Stockholm. And there are four collectible ‘Barbie loves Benetton’ dolls to be had, too.
“Barbie has been a part of popular culture for more than four decades, and she has become a household name all over the world. Fashion conscious girls in the UAE now have an entire, Barbie-inspired collection designed especially for them,” said Ajai Dayal, General Manager, Retail and Marketing, Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, the sole distributor for Benetton in the UAE.

The ‘Barbie loves Benetton’ collection, with over 50 garments and accessories is now available at all United Colors of Benetton stores in the UAE. In December, the range continues with a special Christmas collection, accompanied by a unique Christmas Barbie doll.

Irresistible colours are a theme throughout the collection, and there are shades of red, blue, green, orange and pink to choose from. Glitter and crystal, embroidery and prints on woolens, corduroy and denim-mix materials ensure a hippy chic image for young and teenage girls.
The Paris line includes miniskirts matched with decorative belts, velvet trousers and detailed sweaters topped with pretty woolen scarves. Shades of pink are dominant throughout this line.
London features the sporty-college look with pleated miniskirts and trousers in faded velvet. Tee-shirts with white blouses underneath, knitted waistcoats and trendy jackets with coloured badges are also available.

Vibrant colours such as apple green and bright pink are part of the New York collection. Mini’s, waistcoats, sweaters with hoods and knee-length jeans provide a casual, everyday look. Accessories include miniature sequined bags and nylon-suede sneakers.

For a softer look, Stockholm provides the perfect choice. Teenage girls can chose from warm pastels and whites adorned with crystal and glitter. Stretch-corduroy and elaborate weaves add style to zip jackets, scarves, berets and boots.
