A meeting was recently held in Zaghouan in order to evaluate the Tunisian-Italian project for the protection of water and soil in Kairouan, Siliana and Zaghouan (2002 - 2006). <i>La Presse</i> reports that the meeting focused on the success of the project in terms of land utilization, mobilization of water and the development of agricultural fields.
The project, which is based on a partnership between the Tunisian and the Italian government, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), is scheduled to be completed in 2006 at an overall cost of about 18 million dollars.
