President Ismael Omar Guelleh on Saturday received Ethiopian Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin in Djibouti, national radio reported.
Djibouti Foreign Minister Ali Abdi Farah was also present at the hour-long meeting.
No details were given about the nature of the talks, although a likely subject of discussion would have been the use of Djibouti's port facilities and an impending increase of fees for such usage.
Ethiopia, which has no seaboard, has been using Djibouti's port since war broke out in May 1998 between Ethiopia and Eritrea, a former province of Ethiopia with a Red Sea coastline.
