ALBAWABA - On Saturday, a boat capsized on a river in Ethiopia's northern Amhara region, killing at least 19 people, according to an official media source.
Amhara Media Corporation (AMC) reported, citing a local administrator, saying "Seven people including a child were saved in difficult circumstances,". The boat is believed to have carried 26 people on board.
AMC added that only two bodies have been recovered so far, with the injuries being immediately taken to nearby hospitals.
The boat was transporting passengers across the Tekeze River, which runs along Ethiopia's border with Eritrea before it crosses into Sudan at the point where the three countries meet, AFP reported.
