Whilst many people have converted to digital cameras, there are still those who prefer traditional cameras. In addition, many people have 35mm film stored away from before the ‘Digital Age’. To cater for these people Epson has launched the Perfection 3490 Photo and the Perfection 3590 Photo scanners in the Middle East region.
The Epson Perfection 3490 Photo retails at just £79 and is the most economical scanner in the Epson range. Despite this low price, it is packed with features to make it an essential addition to any home. It can scan either 35mm film or three mounted slides at a time, using the film holders provided. Once the film or slides have been placed on the scanner the Perfection 3490 Photo automatically detects whether the film is positive or negative, in colour or black and white. The preview mode even allows the image to be seen exactly as it would appear in a photograph.
And for those who want the whole process automated, the Epson Perfection 3590 Photo features an Automatic Film Loader for £99 that allows the user to just place the 35mm film in the feeder, press one button and leave the scanner to do the rest. The Epson Perfection 3590 Photo can scan a whole strip of six 35mm frames at one time.
Both the Epson Perfection 3490 Photo and Perfection 3590 Photo scanners offer 3200 x 6400dpi that allows the user to scan images with superior sharpness. The scanners also include four user-friendly feature buttons on the front of the scanner that enable the user to scan the image as a PDF, attach it in an email or copy it simply by pressing one button. This makes the scanner a convenient device for those who like their technology to be as simple and intuitive as possible.
For enhancement of images before and after scanning, Epson offers a feature packed software bundle that includes Epson Creativity Suite, ArcSoft PhotoImpression 5 and ABBYY FineReader Sprint 6 that allow enhancement and management of images and documents to suit the user’s needs.
Both scanners are compatible with the optional Multi-Photo Feeder, which fits on top of the scanner and allows the user to simply load a number of photographs, and leave it to scan and save.
Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said: “We have released two cost efficient new scanners in the Middle East which make it even easier and faster to archive film. The region presents a diverse mix of consumers, from the techno-savvy to the traditional. These scanners meet the needs of those customers who look for an economical, easier and faster means of archiving film and slides.
