The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management has announced that it is running cookery courses for those who are passionate about cooking and would like to learn more. Conducted at the Academy, the courses have been designed and developed by Michael Kitts, Executive Chef and a lecturer at The Emirates Academy.
Each course is a full day programme running from 9:30am until 5pm and will help the participants discover what it takes to succeed in the culinary world. Each participant will be ‘hands on’ and will sample the cuisine that they have prepared during each course.
There are currently three courses scheduled in September 2005, the first of which is on 1 September and focuses on Fish and Shellfish. Enthusiasts can also learn how to make ‘Naughty but Nice Desserts’ when attending the second course and how to amaze friends and family with a ‘Christmas with a Difference’ when signing up to the third culinary instalment.
Executive Chef Michael began his career at Claridge's Hotel in London, UK and worked as Executive Chef for the prestigious Les Ambassadeurs Club before joining the Butler's Wharf Chef School as Culinary Director/Executive Chef. During his career he has been very successful in international competitions and has won over 60 gold medals. He was a
member of the gold medal winning Great Britain Culinary Olympics team in 1987 and was the first recipient of the UK Craft Guild of Chefs Competition Chef Award in 1994.
Michael has used much of his competition experience to train others. In 1994 teams that he trained won both the junior and senior ‘Grand Prix’ at Hotelympia, London. He was awarded the Prince Philip Special Award in 1996 for services to industry.
