Mohand Laenser, the Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Maritime Fishing, has announced a series of steps taken by the Moroccan government in order to assist and support farmers in the country. Aujourd’hui Le Maroc on Sunday reported that among these steps, the Moroccan government has decided to cancel the debt of about 100,000 local farmers.

Laenser has also announced that the government will take a series of actions to assist farmers in marketing their products (in particular cereals). This will be done by guaranteeing customs protection to various products and ensuring the farmers’ income.

The government, however, specified, that it will intervene in this field only at the level of marketing.
