Egypt’s intelligence agents have arrested a 67-year-old man accused of hoodwinking the ministry of justice, various embassies and several government agencies, according to the Cairo-based daily Al Gomhuria.

Investigations point to Abdel Aziz Al Sayyed Abul U’la, an alleged professional forger, as the mastermind behind the circulation of mounds of forged documents, the daily said.

Intelligence officers stormed the senior citizens’ house in Cairo, where they found many fake seals with the names of courts and security departments in Egypt, as well as those of the Saudi and Syrian embassies and the American University in Cairo.

The daily said that a number of identity cards had been seized, minus the owners’ photos, in addition to forgery equipment and other documents.

The suspect was subsequently referred to the prosecutor general - Albawaba.com
