Eight Iraqi troops died and 17 others injured in an attack on an Iraqi army checkpoint north of Baghdad on Friday, police sources said. The attack reported near Adhaim, some 100 km north of Baghdad, on a main road between Baghdad and the northern city of Kirkuk.
On Thursday, an American soldier died by a blast while on patrol duty in Baghdad according to a US military statement. In Basra, an Iraqi translator working in the British Consulate was shot and killed, it was reported Thursday.
In Samarra, a roadside bomb hit a vehicle carrying municipal workers that resulted in the deaths of four people and wounded another two. In Khalis, resistance fighters opened fire on two trucks carrying construction material, killing the driver and capturing the driver of the other.
