An Egyptian woman has pleaded with police to arrest her to prevent her from turning to prostitution or killing her husband, who left her and her children penniless, a newspaper reported Wednesday.
The unidentified woman in her late 30s told police she had decided to kill her husband, a prominent lawyer who walked out on her a year ago, so her children would inherit his wealth, Al Akhbar newspaper reported, cited by AFP.
"Don't let me leave your office or I'll kill my husband or sell my body and bring shame and disgrace on my family and my children," she reportedly told the deputy chief at the Ezbekiya station in Cairo.
The officer refused to arrest her, but called a friend who promised to give her a job, the paper added.
