A 33-year old Egyptian laborer was sentenced to 25 years in prison with hard labor after being found guilty of murdering his father in cold blood, The Egyptian Gazette reported Sunday.

Ahmed, who traveled to Saudi Arabia just over five years ago, confessed that he had indeed poured petrol over his father's body, lit a match and watched him burn, completely ignoring the old man's tortured pleas to be saved.

When the suspect returned home, with hope of starting a small business from his savings which he used to deposit in the bank account to which his father had access, he found there was no money in the account.

"When I returned home, I found my father living in a large three-storey house. I was over the moon,” said Ahmad, adding that “he told me that he had bought a small plot of land in the village and had proceeded to build the house on it. He was living on the first floor, and had built three apartments on the second and third floors. Two apartments had been given to my younger brothers, while the third apartment had been secured for me."

When Ahmed asked his father for his money, the money he had grafted so hard for, he soon learned the truth of his father's deceit. His father conceded that he had no money to give his son as he had spent it on financing the housing project, the daily added – Albawaba.com
