Egyptian Ruling Party Plans Ahead

The development committee of Egypt’s ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) met Sunday with an agenda that included reviewing mechanisms for developing the party in the short and long terms, the daily Al Messa reported. 

The meeting was attended by Minister for Parliament and Shura Council Affairs Kamal Al Shazli; the presidential office’s director, Zakariya Azmi; NDP general secretariat member Jamal Mubarak, and the head of the parliamentary planning and budget committee, Ahmed Ezziddin. 

The committee’s agenda included a review of membership procedures, as well as a restructuring of the party at the central and grassroots levels. The committee also adopted new standards for nominating NDP candidates, to be put into effect in the local elections in April 2002. 

The meeting’s results will be presented to the party general secretariat headed – Albawaba.com
