An Egyptian IT and network security expert has warned that a computer virus that forced the Pentagon to close down its internet sites will emerge next Wednesday and hit tens of thousands of networks throughout the world, including Egypt.

Mustafa Saharnak was quoted by press reports as saying that the Red Code virus rejuvenates itself spontaneously during a period of 19 days from the beginning of the first attack, which occurred on July 20.

He added that the virus had hit more than 250,000 computers in the US alone.

“The virus wipes out the weak points and infiltrates networks,” the expert said, adding that Red Code was 100 times stronger than the Love Virus, which caused billions of dollars in damage to American computer networks – Albawaba.com
