Egypt's leading opposition movement - the Muslim Brotherhood - has blamed the authorities following its candidates' poor performance in the latest round of parliamentary polls, which were held Thursday.
Citing partial results, the outlawed movement said on Friday that so far none of its 49 candidates involved in the third and final phase of voting had won, AFP reported.
Spokesman Issam al-Aryan stated at least 28 would contest run-offs in five days, while the results of 10 other candidates had not yet been declareded. "The fact that no Muslim Brother won in the first round is the result of the fact that voters were prevented from voting and that the Ministry of Justice assigns notoriously dubious judges to the tallying centres," he was quoted as saying.
