Egypt to Build 17,000 New Schools by 2010

The Egyptian Minister of Education Hussein Kamel Bahaeddin said that his ministry plans to complete building 17,000 schools by 2010 at a cost of 25 billion pounds, the daily Al Ahram reported.  

The minister was speaking during the inauguration of educational establishments and schools. He added that this year’s plan included the preparation and construction of 2000 schools costing three billion pounds. 

This year and next year will witness big progress in computer education throughout public schools nationwide to focus on training of teachers on computer at all educational stages, added the minister. 

Meanwhile the governor of Cairo, Abdel Rahim Shehatah announced the inauguration of new projects in north of Cairo.  

The governor accompanied opened the tourists’ public garden in the north Cairo neighborhood of Al Zaytoun, which cost 4.8 million pounds -- Albawaba.com
