An earthquake rocked Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, Sunday, without causing any casualties or apparent damage, the country's state television reported.
The television said the temblor measured 3.5 to four on the Richter scale.
It was the third quake to hit the city since November 25, when a quake measuring 6.5 radiated out from the Caspian Sea, causing 31 deaths and injuring more than 300 people.
An official from the seismological institute, Arif Gasanov, said: "Around 10 am Moscow time (0700 GMT) an aftershock measuring four was registered in the epicenter of the November 25 quake," 100 kilometers (60 miles) north of Baku.
This was followed by a weaker aftershock in the Azerbaijani capital.
"These are the consequences of November's earthquake which proves that source of the quake is exhausting itself and it is virtually impossible there will be another one measuring five to six on the Richter scale (in Baku)," said Gasanov -- BAKU (AFP)
