An agreement to cover software needs for Dubai Internet City was signed Monday between the Dubai City and Microsoft.
Jean-Philippe Courtois, President of Microsoft Europe, Middle East and Africa said in a press release that "Dubai Internet City denotes the government's emphasis on information technology as the key economic driver.”
Ahmad Binbyat, CEO, Dubai Internet City said that “the agreement will cover software needs of Dubai Internet City, which has started as Shiekh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to empower Emirates as a regional IT hub.
"We believe that strategic partnerships with industry leaders are key to establishing DIC as this region's robust technology backbone and are therefore very pleased to partner with Microsoft in our joint vision to transform this region's economy into one that is knowledge-based."
"This agreement between Microsoft and Dubai Internet City opens a new chapter in an ongoing long term relationship and we are very committed towards bringing the Internet age closer to the region."
According to the statement, 214 companies have registered with Dubai Internet City and over AED 2 billion have been invested in the project. This agreement, that covers Dubai Internet City's software requirements will ensure that DIC keeps in touch with the latest in software technologies and the most agile solutions required to operate efficiently in its role as the region's IT hub – Albawaba.com
