Dubai Internet City will set up a research and development center to ensure that the emirate's transition from a consumer to a production-based society is smooth, reported the Gulf News.

Abdullah Mohammed Al Karam said there was a need for a research and development environment in Dubai to make the vision of progress a reality. "We want to develop a center along the lines of the American National Science Foundation to look after research and foster innovation and bright minds.”
