ALBAWABA - A drone attack have hit the vicinity of Khartoum Airport early Tuesday, AFP reported citing eyewitnesses.
The Sudanese authorties announced that they will reopen Khartoum International Airport for domestic flights starting Wednesday, October 22, after it was closed for over two years dur to the war in Sudan, the Civil Aviation Authority said.
Drone sounds were heard over central and southern Khartoum before people reports several blasts in the airport area between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. local time in Sudan, AFP maintained.
until this moment, there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the drone strike and no data on casualties or damage was released.
Fighting started in April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
"The Civil Aviation Authority issued a notice announcing the resumption of domestic flights at Khartoum International Airport beginning Wednesday, Oct. 22, in accordance with approved operational procedures," the official news agency SUNA said.
