According to PETRA, the World Bank has informed Jordan and the Palestinian Authority that the donor countries have agreed on providing funding to the feasibility study on Red Sea-Dead Sea Canal project according to a statement issued in Paris by the bank and distributed by the UN in New York Wednesday.
The bank has started an operation to collect money for the study which will examine the project's environmental and social effects, said the statement.
The study will last for two years with a total cost of $15.5 to provided by Japan, the U.S., France, Italy, Norway and Sweden.
Jordan and the Palestinian Authority agreed last May to ask the World Bank to provide funding for the project.
