At least seven donkeys have been stolen in recent weeks in villages around the town of Boumehen, Tehran Province, Tehran Times reported Thursday.

The villagers have complained that for some time their donkeys, which are mostly used for carrying burdens, have gone missing in suspicious cicumstances, the paper said.

According to official reports, the stolen donkeys are probably killed for sale as edible meat, said the daily -- Albawaba.com
