Officials of Routes 2006, the 12th World Route Development Forum hosted recently in Dubai by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), have commended Dnata for its delegate handling support services during the world-renowned airline and airport networking event.

Routes 2006, held over three days at Dubai International Exhibition & Convention Centre, attracted a record 2,000 international representatives of airlines and airports, suppliers, consultants to the aviation industry, tourism authorities and EUCA, the European Slot Coordinator body.

Dnata’s support services at Routes 2006 involved assisting DCA’s delegate arrival and departure procedures at Dubai Airport with Marhaba Services staff; and the Routes team with registration and meetings systems at the event. Staff of four Dnata divisions: Dnata Airport Operations, Dnata Agencies, Dnata Cargo and MMI Travel participated in the support services programme.

Mike Howarth, Chairman of Routes, said: “This event was one of the best-ever organised for our delegates, who enjoyed seamless standards of quality from arrival in Dubai, right through to departure. Dnata’s contributions helped ensure the 12th World Route Development Forum was the biggest and best Routes event to date.”

He added: “This was a truly global event for Dubai, attended by high-level delegations from the likes of the U.S.A., India, Russia, Malaysia, Scandinavia and Australia - and they all benefited from world-class services.”

Mr. Howarth thanked H.H. Sheikh Ahmed and the DCA for their enthusiasm and commitment, which made Routes 2006 a success. He also noted the contribution of Emirates, a major sponsor of Routes 2006.

To mark the success of Routes 2006, Mike Howarth and Michael Woodward, Chairman of Route Development Group, were presented with a special memento of Dubai by Tom Lewis, Senior Vice President Dnata Airport Services, at the Dnata chalet in the Routes Delegate Meeting Centre.

Previous annual World Route Development Forums have been held in Cannes, London, Rome, Amsterdam, Athens and Madrid.
