Children with special needs at the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center (RPTC) marked on Monday the first anniversary for Palestinian Intifada, symbolizing their solidarity with Palestinian kids in an art show.
“Until When” is the title of the art work which was produced in cooperation with Al Khiam Production Studios, asking the world to find a solution to the Palestinian children's suffering, said Khaleej Times.
Mariam Osman, Director of the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center was quoted by the daily as saying "this show is small but a meaningful gift from the children at the center to the Palestinian children who are suffering the worst forms of oppression and persecution.
"It is a humanitarian gesture showing solidarity during first year of the Palestinian Intifada."
She explained that the show featured several tableaus, focusing the light on the suffering of the Palestinian children who are fighting with stones to get their home free from Isreali tanks.
Highlighting the features of the show, she said that it focused on the consequences of the persecution of Palestinian people by the Israeli occupation force and the devastating impact of the war, both physical and psychological, on the Palestinians.
Last Wednesday, the UAE Supreme Committee for Support of the Intifada organized a special ceremony at the Cultural Palace to mark the first anniversary of the latest Palestinian uprising against 34 years of Israeli military occupation.
A number of officials representing the committee, the Consulate of the Palestinian State, the UAE Red Crescent Society and the Anti-Normalisation of Relations with Israel Committee will participate in the ceremony, and give speeches in which they will praise the Palestinians' fight against 34 years of Israeli occupation.
On October 27, there will be a Palestinian Folkloric Night at the Cultural Palace in Sharjah to support the Intifada, it added.
On October 28, there will be a charity dinner off the Al Qasba canal, with plates donated by the private sector to be sold to the public, in addition to a presentation of Intifada films and songs, said the report.
About 700 Palestinians, including some 100 children and 40 leaders, have been killed by Israeli troops and Jewish settlers in the uprising against 34 years of occupation.
In support of the Palestinians, the UAE government and people have extended a helping hand to the the Palestinian people, in the form of financial aid and other donations.
In March this year, a hospital donated by UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was opened in Ramallah in the West Bank -- Albawaba.com
