Diabetics in Bahrain will soon carry special cards, which could help save their lives in an emergency, reported the Gulf Daily News on Sunday.
The “I am a diabetic” card is being distributed by the Bahrain Diabetes Society, in cooperation with Lifescan company, to alert people in emergency situations that the carrier needs special medical attention, it said.
Society awareness and information committee head, Mariam Al Mulla, said the cards would be given to anyone with diabetes.
The society will be distributing the cards though the various diabetes clinics at the health centers around the country, she said.
The card gives instructions on how to act and deal with any changes in the condition of a diabetic, Al Mulla added.
“It will definitely help the person who finds this card assess the patients condition and carry out the proper procedure to help them.”
The information will be in Arabic and English and personal details about the patient will be included, such as the name, address and telephone number – Albawaba.com
