Dell yesterday announced three new storage systems across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) designed to help change the economics of storage by bringing enterprise-class capabilities to SMB customers, allowing them to scale their operations as storage needs increase. The new products address customers’ network storage and back-up and recovery issues by providing a simple, reliable and affordable solution, spanning both the Dell/EMC® and Dell PowerVault™ product lines.
According to a recent report1 from leading industry analyst research firm Gartner the top three issues faced by IT personnel in European small and midsized businesses when managing storage are meeting growing capacity demands, meeting storage performance demands and a lack of reliable backup and recovery. Ideally suited to meeting these challenges, the three new products launched today are the Dell/EMC CX3-10, an entry level SAN array delivering innovative data protection and availability; and the PowerVault TL 2000 and TL 4000 tape libraries, designed to deliver simplified data protection and provide reliable hands-off, around-the-clock operation in compact, high-performance libraries that are customer installable and easy to setup and manage.
“Dell works closely with its customers, developing solutions that are relevant to their business needs,” said Paul Kaeley, head of storage, Dell EMEA. “Storage management can be resource-intensive and highly unpredictable; capacity shortfalls may prevent an organisation from responding to changes quickly, adding to costs so as to keep up with demand. Our new solutions promise to address these needs by offering them simplicity, affordability and superior capabilities.”
Dell also announced enhanced functionality and increased flexibility for the Fibre Channel versions of its Dell/EMC CX3-20f and CX3-40f SAN arrays, making it easier for customers to add hosts as their businesses grow.
Dell/EMC CX3-10
The Dell/EMC CX3-10 is ideal for budget-conscious customers who require both high availability for increasing data capacity and upgradeability for investment and data protection. Supporting both iSCSI and Fibre Channel hosts, this array extends the reach of the enterprise-class UltraScale architecture to small and medium businesses. iSCSI is a key technology in Dell’s strategy to change to the economics of storage. iSCSI-based SANs provide significant cost advantages over traditional Fibre Channel SANs-with lower fabric, implementation and maintenance costs.
The CX3-10 simplifies the storage experience by bundling necessary software for failover and management, as well as offering an all SATA drive configuration for customer seeking bulk storage at a new, lower price point. Combined with Dell PowerEdgeTM servers, the CX3-10’s flexibility, robust feature set and price make it an ideal platform for server virtualisation.
Key features and benefits of the Dell/EMC CX3-10 include:
• Multi-Fabric Connectivity: Fibre channel and iSCSI host connectivity for maximum deployment flexibility and highly efficient storage consolidation.
• Simplified Management: Simple task-based management of storage via the new Navisphere Task Bar.
• Advanced Data Protection: Supports a full suite of replication applications for both local snapshots and remote mirroring.
• Configuration Flexibility: Mix Fibre Channel and SATA disk drives to meet tiered storage requirements or deploy an all SATA configuration for a low cost entry point with maximum scalability.
• Streamlined Deployment: Using Dell’s build-to-order factory capabilities, customers can custom-order SAN-ready Dell PowerEdge Servers with a broad range of Fibre Channel host bus adapter cards and iSCSI-ready network interface cards factory installed and tested, eliminating several steps in SAN installation.
Available now, the Dell/EMC CX3-10 pricing starts at £21,500/€32,000 (excluding VAT and delivery).

Dell/EMC CX3-20f and CX3-40f

The Dell/EMC CX3-40f provides additional back-end loops for greater configuration flexibility for customers wanting to segment their storage by application or performance.
Available now, the Dell/EMC CX3-20f and CX3-40f pricings start at £26,500/€39,500 and £46,750/€69,950, respectively (excluding VAT and delivery).

Dell PowerVault TL series tape libraries provide reliable hands-off, around-the-clock operation in compact, high-performance libraries that are customer installable and easy to setp-up and manage.
Key features and benefits of the PowerVault TL2000/4000 include:
