A total of 129 people died in road accidents in Dubai from January to the end of September this year.
Khaleej Times, citing police statistics, added that 1,595 were injured in car accidents, of whom 27 sustained serious injuries.
According to the official figures, Shaikh Zayed Road witnessed the maximum number of accidents again, with 80 cases. In these accidents, 21 people lost their lives and 155 were injured. This was followed by accidents on Dubai-Al Ain road on which 51 accidents took place. Fifteen people died and 101 were injured on that road.
Based on a previous reporyt by Gulf News, speed is a major cause for the fatal accidents.
It said that more than 56,000 drivers were caught speeding by radar detectors on Dubai's roads in May and June, bringing the total number of speeding fines in the first six months of the year to 142,154 – Albawaba.com
