Damascus Radio stressed on Wednesday that “terrorist [Israeli Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon is following a systematic plot to empty the Palestinian territories of the indigenous population”, and for that reason, the premier “grounded the peace process and buried [the] Oslo agreements” despite their flaws, and “pushed the region to more escalation and tension and to catastrophic possibilities accompanying the US preparations to strike at Iraq with no reason”, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported.

The state-run radio further indicated that the Washington administration is calling upon the Security Council to issue a new resolution regarding Iraq for no reason after Iraq accepted the unconditional return of the international arms inspectors at a time when Israel is giving no heed to scores of United Nations resolutions.

The Syrian radio also highlighted that the United States remains a “captive of its narrow vision”, governed by the Zionist understanding of the events, which does not allow the US to even mention Israel’s nuclear arsenal. (Albawaba.com)
