Voting started at 07:00 am (local time) in Cyprus for the election of six deputies who will be representing the country at the European Parliament, the first time Cypriots are voting in such elections since the Republic joined the European Union [EU] along with another nine members in May this year.
Cyprus is one of 19 EU member states where elections for the European Parliament are taking place Sunday.
The votes will be counted at the polling stations and results will be announced at 23:00 pm (local time) and not before, as prescribed by an EU directive, according to CNA.
The names of the six elected representatives are expected to be announced at around midnight. (Albawaba.com)
