Sony Ericsson’s latest phones will be displayed at the GITEX 2006 from 18 to 22 November 2006 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Sony Ericsson’s presence at this premiere event will ensure that the latest advancements in mobile phones are out in force.
The stand will highlight Sony Ericsson’s Walkman® phones, digital imaging, or K series, mobile phones, the stylish Z series lifestyle phones and the penultimate business phone, the P990i.
Sony Ericsson proudly presents its newest Walkman® music mobile phones, the W850i, W710i and the W950i. All complete Walkman® based phones with unparalleled music capabilities built in making these mobile phones as diverse a media tool as you could hope for.
"We have witnessed radical changes as to how people communicate. The range of technology available in the market now not only allows people to connect through words and images, but also through music," said Husni El-Assi General Manager of Sony Ericsson, Middle East and North Africa.
Sony Ericsson has made significant additions to the Walkman® series with the launch of the W850i and the W950i. Both phones make music downloads and sharing faster and more convenient. The W850i has Sony Ericsson’s first GSM/UMTS ‘slider’, the W850i has been combined with the full horizontal mode camera experience and the latest Walkman® player 2.0 for easy music download.
The W950i is the first Sony Ericsson phone to feature the innovative new track ID technology, which enables the phone to recognize music being played through the phone and displays track information including artist name, song title and album name.
The ultra-slim, ultra-stylish, UMTS-enabled device has 4GB of internal storage complete with touch screen for simple navigation through music genres, playlists, individual songs or music albums. More than just a music phone, the W950i is a broadband-fast email and Web browsing tool with a suite of high performance entertainment applications adding to its capabilities, making it one of the most versatile phones in the Sony Ericsson portfolio.
“We’ve bundled an amazing set of multi-media features in our Walkman® series, to ensure we have a Walkman® phone targeted at different segments of the market,” added Mr El-Assi. “The W850i and W950i are really empowering our users to listen to what they want, wherever they are. This is particularly relevant for mobile phone users in the region who demand music that travels as much as they do.”
Shifting from music to superb imaging capabilities, Sony Ericsson will be featuring the K800i mobile camera phone, the very first phone labeled with the Cyber-shot™ tag. The K800i is the first to come with a built-in blogging capability. All the user has to do is select a picture and then pick the option for sending via 'blog' rather than MMS (Multimedia messaging) or email. By default this will link the user directly to Goggle’s blogger service. Photo blogging allows you to share your latest photos with your friends, family and the world. You can use photo blogging to keep a daily record of your life in photographic format, document the growth of your kids, or simply to get public feedback on your latest work of art. The possibilities are endless.
Boasting a 3.2 Megapixel digital camera with Auto Focus, Xenon flash and BestPic™ features, the K800i showcases the best of Sony Ericsson’s well-known imaging technology. The K800i merges advanced image capturing capabilities with high speed data transfer, making it a perfect tool for shooting and sharing high quality pictures and videos. The technology within the dual-mode UMTS/GPRS phone delivers a new level of imaging quality in camera phones. High resolution, sharp, crisp images are guaranteed every time thanks to added features more common to standalone cameras.
The lifestyle Z series phones are sure to attract the GITEX crowds as Sony Ericsson's sophisticated gem, the Z610i; will be displayed. A stylish 3G phone that blends performance with stand-out design, the Z610i boasts a sleek mirror finish on the front cover gives the phone a jewel-like quality that is complimented by a hidden ‘magic mirror’ display which can only be seen when in use. This striking phone delivers on its good looks: its advanced feature set includes a 2.0 Megapixel camera and broadband-speed 3G connectivity. With such a unique design and a choice of three eye-catching colours - Luster Black, Rose Pink & Airy Blue - the Z610i is the clamshell phone to be seen with.
“The unique design of the Z610i is inspired by nature. We have applied a mirror finish and used a hidden display for the first time to achieve the feel of a calm ocean surface” said Mr El-Assi. “0LED technology has enabled us to build in a display that doesn’t interrupt the seductive, reflective qualities on the front of the phone. Given that the Z610i is also a highly-specified device, it appeals to the design conscious that need a phone for every day use.”
The first Bluetooth™ Watch MBW-100, Sony Ericsson’s innovative and stylish new must-have accessory, will also on display. The MBW-100 is the must-have mobile phone accessory for people who enjoy using the latest technology to stay connected to the world around them. It has sleek lines, classic looks and represents a first as a mainstream Bluetooth™ fashion accessory from a mobile phone supplier.
Crafted from high quality stainless steel with a silver facia, the analogue watch, designed in partnership with watch industry leader Fossil, allows a whole new way of looking at your mobile phone. A stylish OLED display beneath the watch face displays who is calling when a call is incoming. A simple key press on the watch can reject the call, meaning you can remain in control of your calls in the utmost discretion.
Last but certainly not least, the SmartPhone for the future, Sony Ericsson’s P990i takes the next step in business communication providing users with everywhere access to the Internet, push e-mail – delivering e-mails straight to the phone - and video calling and messaging for unlimited communication options. It utilizes the fastest existing wireless networks and the most advanced network operator services.
The P990i is the first commercially available SmartPhone to adopt the enhanced Symbian OS version 9.1 and UIQ 3 software platform, the latest version of the most-used open smartphone operative system.
