Computer Virus \'May Cause Nasty Christmas Day Shock\'

A new virus has the potential to wreak computer devastation on Christmas Day, industry sources warn, the Gulf News reported Monday, noting that the virus is able to wipe out hard drives. 

Meanwhile, the virus attempts to flash the BIOS on its trigger date - December 25th - leaving the system inoperable, preventing it from booting up properly and requiring the user to replace the hardware. 

According to the paper, the small businesses and home PC users may be particularly vulnerable. The virus will attempt to flash the BIOS of the computer, according to Symantec, the anti-virus software provider -- Albawaba.com
