ALBAWABA - In a bold environmental protest, climate activists have struck at the heart of Berlin's historical heritage, the iconic Brandenburg Gate. Fourteen activists have been apprehended by law enforcement following this daring act.

Under the banner of climate advocacy, the group "Letzte Generation" (The Last Generation) unleashed their message by dousing the revered Brandenburg Gate's columns with vibrant shades of orange and yellow paint. Their message is clear: they demand an end to fossil fuel consumption by the year 2030.

In a statement issued by Letzte Generation, they vowed to persist with their actions until concrete steps are taken to halt the use of fossil fuels, articulating, "We must sever ties with petroleum, natural gas, and coal no later than 2030."

Their Methods Revealed
Police sources revealed that the activists of "Last Generation" wielded fire extinguishers to coat the eastern columns of the Brandenburg Gate in the early hours of the morning. Their ascent up this historic monument was thwarted with the help of a cherry picker. Authorities have acknowledged the detention of all 14 activists and have initiated an inquiry into the extent of damage caused to this iconic landmark.

Germany has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2045, but its inability to meet annual emission targets for the past two years raises concerns over its ability to fulfill this pledge.
