Clara International, one of Asia’s largest beauty groups, announced today that its range of natural and effective skincare solutions are now available in the Middle East through a partnership with The Beauty Spot, a UAE-based skincare and grooming group.
With more than one hundred skincare centres currently operating in Asia, Europe, and the United States, founder Dr. Clara L. Chee was in Dubai this week to officially mark the launch of her Clara International products in the region.
“Over the last three decades, Clara International has taken a psychodynamic approach to our clients’ skincare needs – we help achieve that critical balance between external well-being and inner satisfaction. The skin is our largest organ and our main defense against the types of punishing weather found in the Middle East, which is why we are bringing our skincare solutions to this market,” said Dr. Clara.
While in Dubai, Dr. Clara noted that the Gulf’s hot and humid environment tends to encourage open follicles and blocked pores, while the frigid air-conditioning encourages dryness and signs of premature aging such as fine wrinkles.
Using a holistic approach, the Clara International skincare solution begins with a skin analysis, followed by recommendations about treatments based on natural Asian herbs and manufactured in an ISO 9001:2000 and GMP-certified environment. All of Dr. Clara’s products are certified as ‘halal’ and provide gentle treatment for issues ranging from blocked pores and acne, to facial scarring and mole removal.
During Dr. Clara’s visit to the region this week, Najwa Badwan, founder and managing director of The Beauty Spot, outlined the growth strategy for Clara International’s skincare solutions in the Gulf.
“Clara International skincare solutions will be offered at The Beauty Spot within the UAE, targeting five locations around the Emirates by 2008. Franchise partners have been identified in markets such as Qatar and Jordan, and we are currently in discussions with groups in Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Iran,” stated Badwan.
Industry analysts estimate that the Gulf beauty market grew to $800 million in 2005, with skincare representing a significant portion of that revenue. Saudi Arabia and the UAE together account for almost 75% of the beauty sector, and growth in 2006 may top 20 percent.
