ALBAWABA-In a show of military strength and political unity, China staged a massive parade in Tiananmen Square on Tuesday to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, unveiling its full nuclear triad for the first time.
Chinese President Xi Jinping presided over the event, which featured intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles, and nuclear-capable strategic bombers, alongside the latest weapons systems of the People’s Liberation Army.
The parade drew global attention with the attendance of Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Turkey was represented by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and other senior officials.
Xi delivered a speech from Tiananmen Gate before inspecting the troops along Chang’an Avenue in a military vehicle. The gathering marked the first time in more than six decades that leaders of Russia, China, and North Korea stood together at a Beijing parade, recalling the 1959 event that brought Mao Zedong, Kim Il-sung, and Nikita Khrushchev together in the same square.
The rare display of solidarity underscored closer ties among the three countries, all critical of Washington and its allies. The parade also marked Kim Jong Un’s debut on a multilateral stage.
In Washington’s orbit, reaction was swift: U.S. President Donald Trump accused Beijing, Moscow, and Pyongyang of “conspiring against the U.S.” in a controversial post on Truth Social.
