Carnival explosion injures 11 in Switzerland

ALBAWABA - An explosion rocked a carnival in Switzerland, leaving 11 people injured, AFP reported citing Swiss police.

In detail, the police confirmed that a blast occurred in a vehicle with a confetti cannon during a carnival in the village of Chable, in the canton of Valais. An investigation was launched to determine the circumstances of this explosion.

In addition, according to Swiss public broadcaster RTS, the explosion, which is likely an accidental event, was caused by the air compressor of the confetti cannon.

"The explosion took place shortly before 3 p.m. (4 p.m. Bulgarian time) on the platform on which the confetti cannon was being transported", the police announced in a statement quoted by AFP.

Medics on site examined all the injured people, and then admitted them to hospitals in the region, the statement read.
