ALBAWABA - A man has been arrested after repeatedly crashing his car into the Chabad Lubavitch headquarters in New York on Wednesday night, American media reported.

According to Associated Press (AP), the incident happened when people gathered to perform prayers at the Hasidic Jewish site, when a man driving a black car kept crashing the front door multiple times.

In response to the incident, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani said, "This is deeply alarming, especially given the deep meaning and the history of the institution to so many in New York and around the world."

Mamdani also said that the incident on the Chabad Lubavitch building was "intentional".

No one was injured in the incident, and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the police will open a probe to determine the motive of the driver.

A clip was shared online showing a black car with New Jersey license plates moving forward and backward while ramming the Chabad Lubavitch's basement-level doors.

Nonetheless, the man, who was wearing shorts, was heard telling bystanders that the car "slipped" amid snow and ice that was covering half of the U.S. states.
