Cambodia has pledged 1,000 troops, or one tenth of the total United Nations pledged peacekeeping force, for deployment in Sudan.
Co-defence minister Tea Banh confirmed an earlier statement by Prime Minister Hun Sen on Saturday, saying Cambodia felt an obligation to help and felt its history had provided it with the necessary experience and skills to be of good use.
"Around 135 Cambodian soldiers will attend as de-miners, and the rest will be observers," Tea Banh said .
"I don't know when we will send them, but our plans are concrete."
