US President George Bush vowed on Saturday to stand firm on Iraq, and said leaving this country prematurely would only strengthen "the terrorists" he blamed for recent attacks.
"The United States will complete our work in Iraq," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "Leaving Iraq prematurely would only embolden the terrorists and increase the danger to America."
Bush said the US would not be shaken by "terrorists" and is battling those he said were responsible for carrying out the strikes. "We are taking this fight to the enemy, mounting raids, seizing weapons and funds and bringing killers to justice," he said.
In Baghdad, Paul Bremer, the chief administrator of the US in Iraq said on Saturday that capturing or killing Saddam Hussein is a top priority of the U.S. forces. But he said there was no evidence that the ousted Iraqi leader was organizing the increasingly fierce guerrilla war against U.S. occupation forces.
"We have no clear indication that Saddam himself is behind these attacks," he said. "There is some sign of control over these attacks at a regional level." (Albawaba.com)
