A joint statement was issued following the meeting of President George W. Bush of the United States of America, with Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the U.S. president's ranch in Crawford, Texas.
The statement said, among others, "The kingdom of Saudi Arabia recognizes the principle of freedom upon which the United States was founded, including the freedoms enshrined under the first amendment of the United States Constitution. The Kingdom appreciates the United States' historic role in working to end colonialism and imperialism and promoting the right of self-determination."
