A book purportedly signed by Ayman al-Zawahri, a senior aide to Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, and calling for jihad has appeared on the Internet, an Egyptian Islamist said Tuesday.
The book, entitled "Allegiance and Disavowal", appears on Nidaa.com, which is very difficult to access, Hani al-Sibai, director of the London-based Maqrizi studies center, told AFP. He added the site is run by a research center close to the Taliban militia.
"It's the same style, the same language and the same methods as the previous writings" of Zawahri, who has been on the run since the US-led war in Afghanistan in 2001.
He also said Zawahri was trying to "mobilize people before a possible attack on Iraq" with his call for jihad. Zawahri explained on the site that "the difficult circumstances which the Islamic world is going through" motivated him to write the book. (Albawaba.com)
