ALBAWABA - At least three were killed in an explosion attack that targeted a church in southern Philippines on Sunday. Seven others were reported injured in the bombing.
According to President Ferdinand Marcos, the group behind the bomb attack on a Catholic mass was carried out by "foreign terrorists," AFP reported Sunday.
According to the police, the explosion took place during a regular service at Mindanao State University's gymnasium in Marawi.
Regional police Chief Allan Nobleza announced that the police are "investigating if it's an IED or grenade throwing."
Meanwhile, Mindanao State University expressed strong support to the Christian community in the country and released a statement decrying the bombing describing it as an "act of violence."
Classes at the Mindanao State University were suspended as additional security personnel were placed to monitor the campus.
"We stand in solidarity with our Christian community and all those affected by this tragedy," the university revealed in its statement.
