ALBAWABA - A ferry off the southern coast of Thailand caught fire, necessitating the immediate evacuation of all 108 persons on board. Thankfully, there were no casualties from the fire, but the cause is still being looked into.
In an instant, flames consumed the ship, sending everyone on board into complete terror. Suddenly, a ferry transporting people from Surat Thani province to Koh Tao island caught fire. The engine room of the ferry was the source of the fire, which quickly spread due to the wooden flooring.
Thankfully, the 108 people on board were saved in record time. Some of the passengers tried to leap into the sea to escape, while others took cover near the front of the ferry amid the turmoil.
After a six-hour voyage, the boat was getting close to its destination when the event happened. This closeness to the location perhaps saved a terrible disaster.
Nearby boats were the first to respond to the ferry fire. Rescue boats initially transported rescued passengers to the island, and those who had inhaled smoke were subsequently sent to the hospital.
Authorities are looking into the circumstances that preceded the ferry fire, even though it is unclear where the fire started.
