An explosion near a Baghdad mosque on Friday killed at least three people, including one American soldier, and injured at least 20, witnesses and hospital workers said. The blast near al-Samarrai mosque in the New Baghdad section of the capital was caused by a roadside bomb. Many of those injured were travelling on a bus near the site of the explosion. They were evacuated to al-Kindi hospital, witnesses said.
Elsewhere, Iraqi resistance attacked a U.S. military convoy north of Baghdad, leaving an armored personnel carrier burning on the side of the highway, witnesses said Friday, according to The AP.
Occupation troops cordoned off a section of the main highway in Mishada, some 30 kilometers north of the capital, after a military vehicle was destroyed by an explosive. It was seen burning on the side of the road.
Witnesses said that the attack happened at 5:30 a.m., and that there were several casualties among the troops. (Albawaba.com)
