Beirut summit follow-up committee to hold first meeting in June

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa said that the Arab summit follow-up committee would hold its 1st meeting next June at the Arab League general secretariat headquarters unless an Arab country requests to host the committee meeting.  

 

The committee consists of eleven Arab countries namely, Lebanon (chair), Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen, Oman, Algeria and Morocco.  

 

Discussions are going on with the head of the Arab initiative committee and some foreign ministers regarding the forthcoming steps to follow up the results of the committee's meeting recently held in Beirut, Moussa said.  

 

The Arab initiative committee comprises of Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, Bahrain, Yemen and the Arab league secretary general, KUNA reported.  

 

Regarding his visit to Doha on Friday, Moussa stated that it aimed at realizing coordination and cooperation between the Arab league and Qatar in its capacity as the chair of the Islamic conference organization, adding that it also aimed at coordinating the forthcoming steps to support the Palestinian stand as well as having consultation concerning the development of the situation in the region in general.
