China on Wednesday warmly welcomed the upcoming state visit of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to China next week, hoping it would be fruitful for both countries.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman told a press conference that his country was confident that President Assad’s visit would push forward cordial cooperation ties between the two countries to a "new higher and more refined level."
"The Syrian-Chinese relations are those of old-friendship, ...since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, they have seen a continuous friendly growth in all fields," the spokesman said, cited by SANA news agency.
The spokesman highlighted China’s strong desire to boost cooperation with Syria noting that both countries were going to sign many bilateral accords in the health, economy and commerce sectors. (Albawaba.com)
